I was born in Bryan, Texas on
March 4, 1984 and moved to Galveston, Texas
shortly after that. I lived there with my
family until I was 16, then we moved to
Brenham, TX. I have two older brothers and a
sister in law, a nephew who will be two in
September and two great parents.
I am the sixth generation in my family to raise
cattle in Texas. My family has been ranching
since 1871. I bought my first Longhorns 9
years ago when I was 13 years old and have
owned Texas Longhorns ever since. I don't
really remember how I became interested
in showing, but I do remember my first show
where I got last place out of about 7
heifers. Somehow I still became hopelessly
addicted to showing from that day on.
I was TLBT president during 2002, my Senior
year of high school. I graduated from
Brenham High School in 2002. and attended
Blinn Junior College for a short while.
I took a job managing Hudson Longhorns |
for approximately two years.
I had cattle before, during, and after my
short stay with Hudson. I wanted to do
something on my own. Cindy Dennis
recommended I start fitting cattle. I
started my own fitting business in December
and have been doing it since. It is
what I love to do. It makes sense because I
love showing so much that I have made it my
career. I am currently running about
70 head of registered Texas Longhorns and
commercial cattle.
My message to the youth is, never
underestimate the power of your dreams.
If you have a burning desire, a strong
passion and enough "want to" then I
guarantee you that anything is possible
and you will realize everything you set out
to do. But first, you must learn to work
hard and be patient. Then the sky is your
only boundary. A quote that always
helped me along the way is, "Shoot for the
moon. Even if you miss you are still
among the stars." |
